An opaque, white chitosan/ Hydroxyapatite nanocomposite was prepared by a simple blend method. Morphology, pore size and dispersion of nano-hydroxyapatite in chitosan matrix were visualized using SEM images. The FTIR with EDX analysis confirmed the bony apatite layer formed on outside composite. Porosity measurements water uptake studies evaluated which revealed maximum porosity 80% to 92% chitosan: hydroxyapatite at ratio 20:80. results also showed that absorption ability inversely proportional present nanocomposite. corresponding cancellous bone 50% 90% suggesting possible applications transplantation. exhibited antibacterial activity towards tested Gram-negative Gram-positive species bacteria reduced bacterial adhesion biofilm formation.
